Welcome,
My name is Emil Zarkov. I was born in 1955 and live in Sofia, Bulgaria. I'm married and have two sons.
I'm engineer by profession, specialized in automatics and industrial computer control systems. I have defended a dissertation in the same field.
Together with my day work, in the recent years I've been designing card models. Somewhere in 1995 I finished the work on my software package ModelCArD. Since its completion more than 50 000 complicated details have been processed by its help and as a result more than 50 models, designed entirely by me, appeared on the market.
From September 2002 I abandoned my day work and focused the all my attention to my private company ModelArt.
Now I'm working in cooperation with Web Systems, Bulgaria on some large projects concerning 3D geometry, scenes analysis, images processing, and of course on the aspects of the card model design.
Due to the high interest shown, I developed in cooperation with CAPVIDIA Belgium company the ancestor of the ModelCArD - the SurfMaster software pack. It will be available soon.
Now I can find a time for a new card model designs in cooperation with Moshe Lemer /Israel/. I also established a good relationship with Dimitry Makeev /Moscow, Russia/ where some of my ModelArt kits were printed with unbelievable quality.
My future plans are to intensify this work together with some of the best card models designers that I know - Thomas Pleiner /MTP Studio - Germany/ and the Scheuer und Struver company design team /S&S - Germany/.
My goal in my whole work is to create models of the reality around us that meet some criteria of similarity. The models can be some systems of differential equations that recreate the behavior of objects like airplanes during their flight, or the process of crystals growing. Or the models can be "models" that recreate the real objects in scale. In this case if we neglect their functionality /flying or swimming for example/ the criteria of similarity is formulated about 30 years ago from the Airfix design team as their motto.
I completely accept it, and extrapolate it not only for plastic and card modeling, where the maximal visual similarity is used as criteria, but to the entire process of modeling at all.
The motto is: JUST LIKE THE REAL THING!
